For your info, it's good to know that the majority of the cPanel-based Hosting offers on the contemporary web hosting market are generated by a very insignificant business segment (when it comes to annual money flow) dubbed reseller hosting. Reseller website hosting is a sort of a small-size business segment, which generates an enormous quantity of different web hosting brands, yet supplying precisely the same services: mostly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Because at least ninety eight percent of the web hosting offerings on the entire web hosting marketplace offer precisely the same thing: cPanel. There's no diversity at all. Even the cPanel-based Hosting price tags are alike. Very identical. Giving those who demand a top web hosting service almost no other website hosting platform/hosting Control Panel alternative. Thus, there is just one fact: out of more than 200k web hosting trademarks in the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than two percent! Less than 2%, remark that one...

200,000 "Hosting service providers", all cPanel-based, yet uniquely labeled

The Hosting "variety" and the web hosting "offers" Google shows to us boil down to just one and the same solution: cPanel. Under 100's of thousands of different web hosting trademarked names. Imagine you are simply an average guy who's not very familiar with (as the majority of us) with the website creation processes and the web hosting platforms, which actually power the respective domain names and web sites. Are you prepared to make your hosting pick? Is there any web hosting variant you can select? Of course there is, now there are more than 200k web hosting suppliers out there. Officially. Then where is the problem? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these more than two hundred thousand unique web hosting brand names in the world will offer you precisely the same cPanel web hosting Control Panel and platform, labeled differently, with literally the same price tags! WOW! That's how great the assortment on the contemporary hosting marketplace is... Full stop.

The Hosting LOTTERY we are all participating in

Simple arithmetic demonstrates that to come across a non-cPanel based web hosting firm is a big strike of luck. There is a less than 1 in fifty chance that something like that will take place! Less than one in fifty...

The strong and weak sides of the cPanel Hosting solution

Let's not be merciless with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was fashionable and perhaps answered most web hosting market preconditions. To put it briefly, cPanel can do the trick if you have only one domain name to host. But, if you have more domain names...

Weak Side Number One: A laughable domain folder configuration

If you have two or more domain names, however, be extra watchful not to remove fully the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will refer to each subsequent hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain name). The files of the add-on domain names are very easy to delete on the hosting server, because they all are located into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the very well known public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder located inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time attempt not to delete the files of the add-on domains, please. See for yourself how fabulous cPanel's domain folder configuration is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is located)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain)

Are you getting confused? We certainly are!

Weak Point No.2: The very same mail folder arrangement

The e-mail folder arrangement on the hosting server is precisely the same as that of the domain names... Making the very same error twice?!? The sysadmin boys strongly enhance their belief in God when handling the electronic mail folders on the email server, hoping not to bungle things up too harshly.

Drawback Number Three: A sheer lack of domain name manipulation menus

Do we need to bring up the total shortage of a modern domain administration GUI - a place where you can: register/migrate/renew/park or administer domain names, change domains' Whois info, shield the Whois information, modify/set up nameservers (DNS) and Domain Name System records? cPanel does not involve such a "contemporary" menu at all. That's a colossal disadvantage. An unforgivable one, we would like to point out...

Predicament No.4: Many login places (min two, maximum three)

How about the necessity for an extra login to access the invoice transaction, domain and tech support management platform? That's beside the cPanel account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel Hosting service provider. Now and then, depending on the billing transaction platform (particularly developed for cPanel only) the cPanel Hosting provider is availing of, the eager customers can end up with 2 additional login places (1: the billing/domain management tool; 2: the ticket support menu), ending up with an aggregate of 3 login places (counting cPanel).

Problem No.5: More than a hundred and twenty web hosting CP menus to become acquainted with... fast

cPanel offers to your attention more than one hundred and twenty departments inside the website hosting Control Panel. It's an excellent idea to learn each one of them. And you'd better get familiar with them promptly... That's inordinately insolent on cPanel's side.

With all due veneration, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel Hosting corporations:

As far as we know, it's not the year 2001, is it? Remark that one as well...
